FUTURE SHOCK
"Wake up, Trunks." Someone called. Trunks' vision slowly came back to him, and he began to feel much better. The pain was subsiding faster and faster by the moment, and Trunks didn't understand why. The stranger only stared at Trunks and it made him uncomfortable, so he decided to ask a question to break the silence. "Who are you?" "Haven't you figured it out yet?" He replied. Trunks thought for a moment, the stranger looked so much like him he couldn't believe it. Finally he decided to take a guess, "You're me?" "You're right." The older Trunks nodded. Trunks sat Indian style on the mat, looking at the older version of himself, "I think it's starting to make more sense now. You and that android are from the future right?" "That's correct. 20 years in the future to be exact." Mirai no Trunks, who is the Trunks from the future, answered. "How did you heal me so quickly?" "I had some medical supplies with me for this fight, but it looks like I didn't have to use them." Mirai no Trunks smirked. "Okay, I know who you are, and I have a handle on the situation, so I think I'll ask the big question... Why are you here?" Mirai no Trunks stood up from the rickety chair he had been sitting on, and walked towards gaping hole in the wall. For a time he simply looked out at the darkening sky, Trunks had been out for a few hours and now it was evening, the clouds had gathered and now rain drops had begun to trickle down on the naked steel skeleton of the building they were in. Finally he turned around to face Trunks, he answered, "This is a long story, are you sure you want to hear it?" "Of course, I don't think Mom will be too worried.. Oh no, it's almost evening, Mom's probably wondering just where the heck I am by now." Mirai no Trunks grinned as if remembering some fond old memory, "It's alright, if I know mom, she'll understand." "You're right." Trunks nodded sincerely, and Mirai no Trunks continued, "Do you remember in the past, when we were attacked by Androids 13, 14, and 15?" "How can I forget, we almost lost that fight if it wasn't for Goku and his Genki-dama. But we destroyed the Dr. Jero's Super Computer, unless it had a back up I don't think it could've survived to create any more androids." Trunks' eyes widened, Mirai no Trunks didn't even have to explain anything to him. He realized that the Z senshi had destroyed the computer in the past, but it would still be in tact in his time line, "How could I be so careless?" "It's not your fault, you forgot that nothing you did in the past had any effect on the present." Mirai no Trunks commented, "but that's not the entire story." The rain intensified outside, and water began to drip from the ceiling, but Mirai no Trunks' story continued, "What I didn't know or figure out around this time is that Dr. Jero was simply an old man, and there was no real way he could have done all his work by himself. No, Dr. Jero had an assistant who shared his vision and utter hatred of Goku. Dr. Jero's assistant, Dr. Teris, continued his work after 17 and 18 were destroyed, knowing that if he were to control this world like Jero tried to do, he would need to kill me first." Trunks interrupted, "Did he have a laboratory elsewhere from Jero's?" "Yes, his was located in the southern archipelago, not too far away from the Kame-sennin's island." He responded, "Dr. Teris will build a mechanical Android, Android 22. He's the first android after the Cell project, but he's not too powerful. Granted he's almost as strong as Cell himself, but he was no match for me. Dr. Teris tries again with Androids 23 and 24 some years later, but both of them are failures and I managed to destroy both of them. After I destroyed Android 24, I discovered the laboratory, I destroyed it and I thought Dr. Teris had gone with it, but he survived and to make matters worse Dr. Jero's Super computer contacted Dr. Teris, and the two of them put their heads together to create Android 25."] "Was he hard to defeat?" Trunks asked. "The battle was very close, the Android was agile and deadly, his fingers were sharpened into claws, and he left me with these scars on my face. As I learned later on, 25 was based on a Saiya-jin DNA matrix rather than human, making for a stronger Android. The computer and the doctor were satisfied, and after 25 bit the dust, they created Androids 26, 27, 28, and 29. The four of them were too much for me to handle, and so I was forced to run for the first time in a long time. The injury Dr. Teris sustained when his lab was destroyed was too much for him, I had heard and so he passed on, but he left his last Android in charge of the entire operation." "Android 30?" "Correct." The rain had worsened considerably by the moment, and the story continued, "10 years from now, those 5 androids will control this world. It was Teris' ultimate dream to have control of this world and bring it under order. It was also his dream to rebuild the Red Ribbon army, but this time he wouldn't recruit normal humans, this time he built his own soldiers. Plants constantly produce android soldiers, some are very powerful compared to others. But the main problem is with the Androids, 26-30 themselves, because I can never gain the upper hand." "You beat 30 so easily though." Trunks countered. "It's different in the future, in the future, each android is backed up by an army, and they're always in close contact with another Android. So whenever I try and destroy one of them, another android comes and I get double teamed. That's why I came back here in the first place, I came to kill 30 while he was by himself." "Android 30 had tried to kill me to try and change the future, why didn't he know that nothing you do in the past affects his time line?" Trunks asked curiously. "In the future, the androids capture mom, Trunks, and they discovered the secrets of time travel. However she didn't tell them that part about it, that's why the android tried this in the first place. He knew I would travel back in time after him, but now I have to go back, because I'm the only one who can stop them." "How far back have you come?" "I came back almost 20 years into the past following that Android. So I'm pretty old now. I remember thinking how horrible the world was when Androids 17 and 18 were wrecking the planet, but in the future things are much worse. There isn't any freedom, and the people are kept in constant fear. It isn't a great place to live, if you're an ordinary person or a super saiya-jin." Trunks stood up, it was a lot of information to take in. "Do you understand now?" Mirai no Trunks asked. "Yes." "Android 30 had to be stopped today, and I blew it, I let my power go to my head and he's returned to the future by now. There's nothing I can do now." Trunks had been deep in thought the entire time, but now he had formulated a plan, "Maybe there is something we do."
